GNI-focused / Content of the course

The course introduces the alternative economic form of solidarity management, which opposes the currently prevailing economic and political framework conditions, a self-determined and solidarity for sustainable development. First, the vision and the basic elements of solidarity-based business are highlighted as a building block of a social transformation. Furthermore, the development-history and the theoretical basics are then examined in more detail. The focal areas of solidarity management (especially energy, nutrition, housing, finance, health) are also discussed within the course. In addition to international and European experience, opportunities and limits of solidarity-based business are mentioned as well. The cooperative economic form, its structures, fields of action and the citizens' energy cooperative as the basis of the energy transition are examined. The courses end with perspectives on different approaches to alternative business.

The extent of the course

The course is open to students of all subjects. With 3 credit points, it covers a workload of approximately 90 hours. This processing period includes viewing and working through learning videos with the associated slides, further processing of the exercises and literature work as well as the targeted exam preparation. The exam can be taken in the form of an electronic test at a nearby university.

In principle, the videos can also be used in non-university areas. This shall also benefit learners from other groups (e.g. companies).
